The Church of God has been ordained and established by God for calling human beings into fellowship with God and with one another according to God‟s eternal purpose in Our Lord, Jesus Christ, God‟s only begotten Son.

About KIMEC

The Methodist Church of King William‟s Town well known as KIMEC was established on the 18 January 1998. The Church was formed by a group of members who were not happy with the ill-treatment of ministers by some members of The Methodist Church of Southern Africa in circuit 312, who were always ensuring to kick out Ministers before the end of their term in serving the Circuit.

KIMEC membership is comprised of people who are mostly from the rural areas and black townships where there is a high rate of unemployment in the Eastern Cape Province.

The church has 27 active societies or out stations in the Eastern Cape with a total of approximately 850 members.

The Legal status of the Church

KIMEC is registered as an NPO with the department of Social Development. The Church is also registered with the National Register of the Independent Churches. The Church is a member of the South African Council of Churches in the Eastern Cape. The Church is also registered with the South African Revenue Services.

Governance & Management

The Church is administered by active Board members. The board is the ultimate decision-making body of the Church. The board meetings are held once per quarter. The board delegates its powers to the Church council in between the board meetings to ensure the implementation of the decision taken by the board meeting. There is also a Church constitution that guides the Church council at large at performing the duties of the Church. The Church council hold its meeting once per month. Theres also a Church Executive committee which is delegated to carry out the daily operations of the Church. The Church executive committee holds its meetings weekly. The leadership of the Church is led by the Superintendent Minister who is also the spiritual head of the Church. The two circuit stewards are the head of the administration of the Church. There is also a Church office which is supervised by the Secretary and Treasurer of the Church. The office is run by the Office Manager with the assistance of the Office Administrator and Office Assistant; these employees are employed by the Church to ensure the smooth running of the office. The Church has Internal Control measures and policies to safeguard the use all its resources. The Church has also different sub-committees that are responsible for performing different important tasks and carry out the outreach programmes of the Church. These sub-committees are as follows:

There are also manyano‟s or departments committees that are responsible to lead all the different manyano‟s of the Church. These manyano‟s are vehicles to grow the spirituality of the Church members. These departments are as follows:

  • Local Preachers Association
  • Young Men Guild
  • Women‟s Manyano
  • Young Women‟s Manyano
  • Kimec Wesley Guild
  • Children‟s Ministry & Teen Church
  • Church choir

There are also spiritual workers that include Evangelists and Bible Women. They also play a critical role in uplifting the spirituality of the members and providing support to the sick and bereaved families. The Church is well known of its sound music which is played almost every week by some radio stations, including Mhlobo Wenene FM.
